BILL OF EXCHANGE
(вексель,тратта) Безусловный приказ в письменной форме, адресованный одним лицом (трассантом) другому лицу (трассату), подписанный выдавшим его лицом и требующий от трассата выплатить по предъявлении в установленный или подлежащий определению день конкретную сумму денег определенному лицу (получателю платежа) либо предъявителю векселя. Если вексель подлежит оплате в какой-либо будущий день, трассат выражает свое согласие (acceptance), которое делает его преимущественно ответственным за оплату векселя; трассант и индоссанты могут также нести ответственность за оплату векселя. Использование векселей позволяет одному лицу передать другому лицу гарантированное законом право на некую сумму денег. Вексель является не только переводным, но и могущим служить предметом сделки, так как, если лицо, не имеющее гарантированного законом права на получение денег, передает в установленном порядке вексель держателю (holder), последний приобретает право собственности на него.
